Knowledge & Partnerships Office
The Knowledge Transfer & Partnerships Office is conducting a pilot involving two 'whole of institution' partnerships with global companies. The aim is to deliver benefits to both the partners and in the process, to build the capacity of the University of Melbourne to initiate and sustain major partnerships with the business sector.
The concept of strategic partnership being piloted is with business and government and involves a commitment to the longer term. They are based on the partners exchanging a range of assets which aim to generate benefits for the University, the external partner and society. Typically such partnerships will have a strong research focus, and may involve opportunities for partners to work with undergraduate or postgraduate students.
Importantly for business, the Knowledge Transfer & Partnerships Office also acts to connect business with relevant expertise within the University. The office is in the process of developing guidelines and templates to assist University staff with the development and management of their business partnerships. The Knowledge Transfer & Partnerships Office is part of the Global Relations portfolio within the Office of the Vice Chancellor.
